The sweetest, most soulful dog I've known passed from this world on Wednesday evening. I was so grateful to be one of those at her and her human's side that night, just as I am grateful to have been her veterinarian and "godmother" these past 12 years. I still remember my first few weeks of knowing her - when she came into my vet clinic as a pup needing a broken leg fixed. She later found a home with Jake, and became Blue Moon Camera's "shop dog", which meant she made countless friends and was the subject of hundreds of photographs.
And now she has sighed and slipped away. I walk around with a weighted heart still, but it's a mix of both sadness and happiness... for she had the kind of life every dog would envy, and she'll be remembered in the hearts and minds of so, so many people.
Goodbye, sweet girl. It was such a pleasure to know and love you.

Michael and I just returned from a three-day weekend spent along the southern Oregon and northern California coast, which has put me in a mind for some ocean images.

Michael and I have been on the East Coast (and still are), so posting has been sporadic. I photographed a vet school colleague's wedding the other day (16 hours of go, go, go!) and now we're hanging with friends, eating fantastic food and looking forward to some beautiful autumn hiking.
