So far I have shown you samples of Acrylic Paint, Coloured Pencils, and Graphite Pencils. I really have hard done hardly anything with those, but have concentrated on learning watercolours.

This is certainly not my first attempt. I have done quite a few, but without much success at all. I read a couple of times that beginning painters would find Oil painting the easiest and watercolour painting the very hardest. I can believe that.

I will show my reference image in the comments below after I locate it, but I have posted this one before.

As per usual I was not happy with just the watercolour work so I added some white acrylic paint to give it a wintry look, and then added a bit of acrylic pen.

I got into bird photography because I liked the works of others and wanted to be able to create my own images of birds but I quickly found it was very difficult to get good detailed shots and that made me want to get them even more. The same goes for watercolours. Because it is hard and a great challenge, I just seem to want to keep trying expecting that if I finally get some that I really like that it will be very rewarding.

For anyone interested in seeing a very old show on a great Canadian Wildlife painter here is a link to a show from 1970 on Glen Loates who worked mainly in Watercolors. I have a hardcover book of his work and it is truly amazing. Quality of the show is very poor, and you can of course just google Glen Loates and be able to see many of his great works, but it is a pretty cool show. There are two videos there, the first is the one I watched. The second is just too funky looking for me. I was not able to get through it.
