From an overlook at the Hawksbill Summit in Shenandoah National Park. The view is looking to the north. I chose to use the ridge coming off this high ground as kind of a leading line to for this setting. I also wanted to raise the horizon a little higher into the image to bring out more of a sense of grandeur as it brought the horizon higher.

While walking the Moses Spring Trail and a view looking back from a short walk through the Bear Gulch Cave. This cave setting is looking to the north in Pinnacles National Park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of the light coming in from above, that helped highlight some of the boulders and cave walls, while others remained in shadows. It had a layered look almost of a path walked.

A setting looking to the north while taking in views across eroded formations of grottos and hoodoos present along the Rim Trail in Bryce Canyon National Park. What I wanted to capture with this image was a layered approach using the nearby foreground and leading up to the cliff edge with the trees and fallen branches. The eye would then be led to see the grottos and hoodoos present across Bryce Amphitheater along the escarpment to the distant horizon.
