A view looking across a grassy field with scattered volcanic rock debris. This is from a roadside pull off along California State Route 36 looking to the southwest. I was able to identify North Yolla Bolly Mountain and Tomhead Mountain using the PeakVisor app on my iPhone.

A setting looking to the south while taking in views at the Panther Meadows Trailhead (Upper) in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. What drew me into this setting was getting down low behind some nearby rubber rabbitbrush and then looking over them to evergreens and mountains as a distant backdrop. I also adjusted the angle of my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward, bringing the horizon higher into the image and reducing the perceived negative space of the skies above.

A setting looking to the northeast and taking in views across a picturesque setting in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This was while along the Heart Lake Trail From Castle Lake. What drew me into the setting wasn't just seeing Mount Shasta as it came from behind the nearby peak, but also the layered look with one peak after the other. The rest of the image composition was aligning myself to bring out more of a balanced look between the two peaks, as well as the nearby evergreen forest with the trees scattered about.

A setting looking to the southwest while taking in views down a mountainside with ridges and peaks present in this part of Lassen Volcanic National Park. This was while hiking back down the Lassen Peak Trail. Some of the more easily identified landmarks I could note are the main park road as it weaved throughout this northern California setting, Lake Helen in the left of center, and Brokeoff Mountain in the upper right portion of the image. I later read in a national park exhibit how Brokeoff Mountain was part of an original mountain (Mount Tehama) before eruptions had happened several hundred thousand years prior.
