This image was captured with Sony's Smooth Reflection camera App - I selected 64 shots as the smoothing option and these were then merged in-camera into one Raw file and one JPEG file.

This is an alternative workflow when using the FE 4/12-24 G to using a filter kit such as the NiSi 150mm ND filters (screw-on filters are not an option with this lens).

An image captured with a NiSi filter can be seen here: flic.kr/p/Yj6fX9

On 'reflection' (pun intended) I would have selected a higher number of shots to smooth the water, in order to match the 30 second exposures I was achieving with the NiSi ND filters (maximum possible is 256 shots). Another thing to consider with using an App is the fact that the bit depth is reportedly dropped from 14 to 12 bits to facilitate the processing of the file in-camera. This, theoretically, should make the lightened shadows more susceptible to banding, but I found no evidence of any problems with this file quality - even after raising the Shadows slider to +100 (my Raw file type is set to Uncompressed on the A7RII).
