I had originally not anticipated shooting lightning, because locally it is often so ephemeral. But while at the marina, it contiinued. So I quickly tried to think of where I could get an angle at which the lightning would reflect off the bay, and headed to the Morro Bay Natural History Museum. I took some long exposures to hopefully catch a flash of lightning and, while I expected the lightning reflections, the effects in the clouds were more than I expected. Photoshop helped with the noise. Morro Bay, CA
As I add this to a "most interesting" group, I add this note:
This photo has been at the top of my "interesting" list since it made the flickr Explore page and I have gotten responses from around the world. I assume the allure is the combination of lightning (with its attendant energy/electricity), landscape and reflection in a relatively uncluttered composition--at least that's what it is for me.

Vulpes macrotis mutica. Kits 7-8 wks. old. This is an endangered subspecies. As its range has been cut by agriculture and habitation, this carnivore species has adapted to urban life where its range abuts towns/cities. These are wild animals--the photos were taken in a public place where the foxes see people on a daily basis and tolerate some close association.
