While females are busy making a new generation of turkeys, I saw 7 males out strolling, munching and occasionally showing off.

There is a story here. I was told about this turkey or I would have probably never found her. She was very near a public path in a county park, but hidden in tall grass under a low-hanging tree branch. It was an example of hiding in plain sight. I checked on her every day after I first saw her, hoping to find the young chicks before they dispersed. Stop reading here if you are squeamish. About 5 days after this photo, when I checked in the morning she was gone and all that was left in her depression in the dry grass was a smattering of her feathers. No eggs. I could not discern the predator. It's a jungle.
