I remember this morning back in Sept while running an eight day workshop in the Rockies. A look at the weather forecast the night before promised much but until the morning arrives, you can never be sure what exactly you're going to get. Well on this particular morning we struck gold.
The sky turned a gorgeous golden colour while the sun once risen, illuminated the left side of the 2,948m peak of Mt Rundle. The water in this particular lake was absolutely still which offered up stunning, clean and beautiful reflections.
It is days like this that has me feel like the most fortunate and happy person alive. Who would not be moved to see such beauty? Thankfully I got to share it with my clients too, which always sweetens the experience for me.

Volcanic Eruption, Litli-Hrutur, Iceland (12th July 2023)
WOW. I cannot tell you how nervous I was in flying my drone this close to the crater of this erupting volcano in Iceland (12th July 2023) especially with a high wind pushing it towards the crater. However I felt that it was worth the risk in sending it up because I became absolutely transfixed with being able to see directly into the crater.
Experiencing the sound, the sight, the heat, of such a powerful natural phenomena is one that will stay with me forever. I felt so incredibly small standing there looking at one of the most amazing shows mother nature can put on. It really does put things into perspective I can tell you.

Blue Skies at Loch Fada, Isle of Skye, Scotland
WOW. How often have you seen Skye looking this blue/calm/reflective/wintery? (delete where applicable, lol). After a rollercoaster week on Skye in which me and my four lovely workshop clients have experienced snow blizzards, deep snow, lots of icy roads and the bluest of blue skies, I am now looking through the images that I captured on camera.
My second workshop here on Skye kicks off tomorrow evening for another five nights before I head on over to Harris & Lewis to run a week long workshop there (then it's Japan for three weeks at the end of March and I am so excited about that). Anyhow, here's an image I took from my DJi Mini 3 Pro as I flew it over Loch Fada on Wednesday. The reflections on the loch were absolutely perfect and it was great to be able to photograph this lovely little tree island from a little closer than normal.

Blue Hour, Ashness Landing Pier, Derwentwater, Lake District
This image was taken a few days ago during the last throes of light and way past sunset. It was day one of four on my Lake District autumn workshop and I took my six lovely clients down to this iconic location so that they could capture a very similar image.
The sky was really interesting with clouds rolling in and rain threatening. Thankfully they all captured their version of this image (some using my spare set of Kase K9 filters) before the rain fell so I am really looking forward to seeing their image online at some point.

Misty Morning at Misurina, The Dolomites
I rose from my bed at 5am this morning, feeling somewhat tired after a long day yesterday which culminated in me piloting my VW T-Cross hire car over the mountain pass from Val di Funes to Cortina d'Ampezzo for two hours at dusk.
The weather forecast this morning did not read well. Flat, grey skis but no rain so I thought it would be wise to head out to see if there was anything worth capturing. One place I have been dying to shoot ever since I first visited The Dolomites is Misurina at sunrise, capturing the building at the end of the lake. Well today I nailed that chance.
Arriving an hour before sunrise (6.15am), it was completely and utterly pitch black but within thirty minutes, the light started to show itself but sadly, the sunrise colour did not. Still, the clouds that swirled around the summing of the Sorapiss Mountains in the background more than made up for the lack of colour.
