Full name, Amorphophallus titanum, it opened late Wednesday. Lives at UC Berkeley’s botanical garden. There’s a lot one could tell about this strange tropical plant but I only know a few things I’ve picked up lately. For more, search it online. Wikipedia has an excellent entry. Note here at lower right how staff has cut a small square hole so that viewers may see the developing seeds within. They will reveal themselves presently.

It was Sir Richard Attenborough who coined the name "Titan Arum" for use on his old TV show, as he felt "Amorphophallus" (misshapen phallus) was inappropriate for family viewing. --so says Wikipedia.
