Amazed to see this new house being constructed in a decidedly old-fashioned style. It's called a gambrel roof. A bit of the original is still standing to the rear and it appears that this will be clad with clapboards and have neo-classical trim and color. Perhaps the original was so riddled with termites that it couldn't be repaired. But the property with house is still too valuable to jettison. Whatever they do, in Berkeley it will recoup the expense!! People will pay anything to live here!
No consideration of a chimney in this re-build, because open fires are now against the law in Berkeley (bad emissions and working for better air).
