in Green Cove Springs, FL, with a nice wrap-around porch and twin chimneys. Well maintained and evidently appreciated.

. . . and by the river. St. Mary's Episcopal, 1875, a stone's throw from the wide St. John's River, northern Florida. A beautiful area. Well preserved and listed on the National Register. Always worth a stop. Last year, the torrential rains had just quit. This year we were lucky to have brilliant sunshine near midday.

A beautiful and interesting part of the state on the west side of the St. John's River, southwest of Jacksonville. Much of the downtown of this interesting old community is listed as an Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places--including this lovely old wooden church built in 1884. If the architect is known, I was not able to discover his name.
