with lemon, orange and raisins. Different and very sweet. From an old Ball book. The Ball Book recipes don't seem to change much from decade to decade, so I'm sure you can still find it easily.

Chop the whole fruit, skin and cores included; add a bit of water and cook till soft--about 40 minutes. Mash and run through a food mill. Bottle piping hot, according to canning directions. Start with tasty apples, and you won't need to add any sugar! Delicious!

Homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam--I grew the (organic, of course) strawberries AND the rhubarb!
No pectin. Made the old-fashioned way--boiling it down for 40 minutes until it passed Grandmas's 'gel' test.

. . . in the foodmill after running a large pot of cooked-till-soft apples. I'm always amazed at the tiny amount of peel and seed; MOST of it becomes 'sauce'. With a bit of cinnamon and (if necessary) sweetener, it's good for winter enjoyment.
