Meeting across the street from the Temple & Tabernacle in the Conference Center that seats, they said, 21K people--for the summer months. I took a great pano of the hall ,but it may be too wide for Flickr. We attended the weekly 30 min. free Sunday concert that is broadcast around the world.

Salt Lake City. What I would call "the mother church", although that's not what they call it. Very grand. Four decades under construction in the 19th C. Closed to those not of the LDS (Mormon) faith.

Bit of the lobby area--marble, marble, everywhere--at the Grand America hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. Across the street from where I was staying. I wandered in for a peek, after being told it was worth it. I would not be comfortable there--luckily--because I couldn't afford it!
ALSO, for those interested--"hard surfaces", e.g. marble/stone everywhere and an absence of carpets/draperies, is NOT friendly to the hard-of-hearing. Sounds all reverberate, especially in this kind of environment, and that makes understanding speech almost impossible. But try telling that to the designers--they don't care!
