The big baseball at the city's diamond. . . .yard art. Greensboro, NC. . . . where the Grasshoppers play. Shot eight years ago when my husband's commitments took us there several times a year. I always enjoyed the city--it has a lot to offer. Greensboro often places high up on the lists of "best places to live".

A fine example of glazed terracotta, used as exterior cladding in an early skyscraper. When built in 1923, this (the Jefferson Standard Building) was briefly the tallest in the Southeast. Seen here reflected in the mirror glass of a newer building across the street. Downtown Greensboro, NC.

1923--clad with the glazed exterior terracotta so popular in the early 20th century. This tiling system was invented and promoted by archtect-engineer Rafael Guastavino, whose buildings are found in many cities. A fancy one operates in NYC as an event-center, I see. Read about him at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guastavino_tile

A hard-cooked farm egg and a slice of homemade bread went down well while checking the emails and the Flickr pix before hitting the road.

I think this (to me) shocking amount is the max they can charge for this room, in case the White House press crew wants sudden lodging or such! Surely the average visitor is not going to pay this for a large, but rather ordinary, room in an urban high-rise hotel in a rather ordinary, albeit, business-person's city. We were there on (nonprofit) business, and, yes, our room was paid for--how much, I don't know. But I was sufficiently shocked by this allowed fee that I had to photograph it.
