An ordinary hotel room with extraordinary personal history!
Proposed in this room in August 2003 and returned during our honeymoon to this room on 28/05/2012.
The big surprise with roses, hearts, cookies, sweets, champagne and engraved champagne cooler was awaiting us upon arrival. This was all presented by family, friends and collegues and carried out by our photographer of the wedding Elisabeth in cooperation with our master of the ceremony and the always friendly staff of Hôtel Mercure Terminus Nord.

A day in Brugge in the mist on one of the shortest days of the year as well. Begijnhof on an evening like this is unforgettable.

Brugge
Brugge (in English Bruges) is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country.
The area of the whole city amounts to more than 13,840 hectares, including 1,075 hectares off the coast, at Zeebrugge (from Brugge aan zee meaning "Bruges on Sea"). The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. It is oval and about 430 hectares in size. The city's total population is 117,073 (1 January 2008), of whom around 20,000 live in the city centre. The metropolitan area, including the outer commuter zone, covers an area of 616 km2 and has a total of 255,844 inhabitants as of 1 January 2008.
Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam and Stockholm, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North.

Five Euro Banknote Old and New
In the year 2013 the 5 euro banknote of the first serie (the 2002 Series) is replaced by a new series (the 2013 Series or Europa Series). The value is 5 euros, the dimension 160 by 62 mm, the main color grey and the architecture is classical. Time for a close look into our wallet.

5 Euro Banknote
The five euro note (€5) is the lowest value euro banknote and has been used since the introduction of the euro (in its cash form) in 2002. The note is used in the 22 countries which have it as their sole currency (with 20 legally adopting it); with a population of about 332 million.
It is the smallest note measuring 120 x 62mm. and has a grey colour scheme. The five euro banknotes depict bridges and arches/doorways in Classical architecture (up to the fifth century).
The five euro note contains several complex security features such as watermarks, invisible ink, holograms and microprinting that document its authenticity. In September 2011, there were approximately 1,507,467,000 five euro banknotes in circulation around the Eurozone 17.
On 8 November 2012, the European Central Bank announced the first series of notes will be replaced, starting with the 5 euro note on 2 May 2013.
As of May 2013, there are approximately 1,584,036,800 €5 banknotes in circulation around the Eurozone. That is approximately €7,920,184,200 worth of €5 banknotes (as of May 2013). The European Central Bank is closely monitoring the circulation and stock of the euro coins and banknotes. It is a task of the Eurosystem to ensure an efficient and smooth supply of euro notes and to maintain their integrity throughout the euro area.
