AVI_?? (#01) [? points]
The first camo space invader I found in the center of Avignon while walking from the underground parking garage to hôtel Kyriad on the Place de l'Horloge. It's located in the street between Palais des Papes and Place de l'Horloge and besides some damage it is still there after almost 13 years of activity.

Date of invasion: Summer 2000

INVASION OF AVIGNON | THE CAMO INVASION
The reason that Invader has chosen to camoflate his art work in space invaders was for tactical reasons. He was invited to participate in a big art festival in Avignon (“La Beauté”, Summer 2000) for which he wanted to invade the city and to make a map of the invasion. But a few weeks before Invader wanted to start he received a phone call from the festival organization asking him to change his plans because Avignon was a very old city with a lot of listed historical buildings that Invader was not allowed to invade.
Invader’s idea was to invade it anyway but to turn i tinto a special camo invasion. This basis were that that the Space Invaders were made with the same color as the walls. (Invader 2001 from an interview)

Score Table: Invasion Wave: 01, Invaders: 41, Points: 0660

As I don’t know the identity numbers Invader was using I chose to number them in the order I found them. These are listed in brackets above with the hashtag. Photos are taken on the 31/05, 01/06 or on 05/06 when we revisited Avignon during the day. In total I found 22 from the 41 (53 %).

This photo was taken on the day of our revisit due to much better light conditions than during our first visit (full sunlight for both the invader as Palais des Papes).

The second space invader I found was located opposite Palais des Papes on a side street of the Place du Palais when walking to the other major tourist attraction of Avignon; Pont Saint-Bénézet (Pont d'Avignon).

The third space invader found in one of the narrow streets in the center of Avignon. Still in perfect shape like it was installed last week.
