Lille seen from above. This photo is taken from one of the 36 gonolas of La Roue Royale, the 50 meters high big wheel on the main square of Lille.
And yes, the weather was changing on this almost shortest day of 2014. The clouds were about to come in just before the early sunset.
Overlooking the North-east here with right in front the Chambre du Commerce of the metropolitain area of Lille. This building with its beffroi (belfry) is designed in the style Néo-flamand by architect Louis-Marie Cordonnier and built between 1910 and 1921.

Lille
Lille (in Flemish Rijsel) is the largest city in French Flandre. It is the principal city of the Lille Métropole, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in France after those of Paris, Lyon and Marseille. Lille is situated on the Deûle River, near France's border with Belgium. It is the capital of the Nord-Pas de Calais region and the prefecture of the Nord department.
The city of Lille, to which the previously independent town of Lomme was annexed on 27 February 2000, had a population of 226,827 as recorded by the 2009 census. However, Lille Métropole, which also includes Roubaix, Tourcoing and numerous suburban communities, had a population of 1,091,438. The eurodistrict of Lille-Kortrijk, which also includes the Belgian cities of Kortrijk, Tournai, Mouscron and Ypres, had 1,905,000 residents.

La Vieille Bourse is located in the heart of the city between Place du Théâtre and Place du Général de Gaulle.

The Vielle Bourse (The Old Stock Exchange), so named since the construction of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the 1910s, is undoubtedly the most prestigious monument of the city. Located between the Grand and the Theatre Square, it is one of the witnesses to the intense economic activity that took place in Lille during the Grand Siècle. It was a historic monument in 1921
The building, square, is actually a nest of 24 identical houses that contain what is called the courtyard, where booksellers, florists, chess players, strollers and tourists gather.
