Architect David A. Ellitot designed the Mission Revival style building for the Metropolitan Water District in 1940. The reinforced concrete building is monumental in scale, towering over the Waymouth Water Treatment Plant whose original purpose was to remove salt from the water coming in from the Colorado River Aqueduct. Weymouth has a treatment capacity of 520 million gallons a day, the equivalent of filling the Rose Bowl every four hours.

Miller Hall was the first building on the campus of La Verne University. Named after Samuel J. Miller, the hall initially supported student services, including dorm rooms for women, the library, bookstore and dining hall in the basement. After earthquakes in 1933 and 1971, the building faced demolition in the 1980s, however alumni and community activists came to her aid. She was retrofitted and remodeled, and re-opened in 1991 and now serves as the academic Arts and Sciences building.

Located on the campus of the University of La Verne, 1950 3rd, Street, La Verne, California.
