Check here for the same view in a morning light!

The pass where I stood for taking this photo (col des Grangettes), 2684m, can be accessed from both sides. When you reach this pass, coming from the other side (see here the view from the other side), and that you suddently discover this wonderful scenery, it is a big shock! I did this hike several times, it is among my favorite ones...

It took me quite a while to shoot this one, I made several exposures in prevision of an HDR, and I tried several points of view. During this time, a man went out of the restaurant and approached me. He stood behind the tripod and threw a glance in the same direction as the lens, then he said : "ça va être très bien" (it's gonna be nice). I replied "I hope so...", but I wasn't really sure at this time, because the light was really poor, orange everywhere but on the door and the bell tower. This led me naturally to a B&W version, and I just kept colors in the two well-colored spots.

I was standing in the center of the "Place de l'Etoile" to take this photo, next to the "Arc de Triomphe". I wish I had a 300mm or so, because this was exactly the view I was looking for, and I had to crop a lot the one I took with my 100mm to obtain it. However I like it, despite its imperfections...
