Golden pipits are found across a wide area of sub-Saharan Africa, primarily in savanna and grassland regions. They tend to prefer open, dry grasslands, and areas with sparse tree cover. These birds can often be spotted in the transition zones between woodlands and grasslands. They tend to stay close to areas with sparse vegetation, where they can easily search for insects and avoid predators. The golden pipit is an insectivorous bird, feeding primarily on small invertebrates such as grasshoppers, beetles, and other insects found in the grass. It will also eat seeds, particularly when insects are less available.
