I know I have a passion for capturing the "Grandscape" when I am out shooting, so this year I have made it a goal of mine to try to pay more attention to the details in nature as a way to balance my shooting out. It is within these details that nature is as wonderful as a gorgeous sunrise or sunset.

Crabtree Falls, the highest vertical-drop cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River, is a popular attraction located in Nelson County, just six miles off the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway near milepost 27. Crabtree Falls features a series of five major cascades and a number of smaller ones that fall a total distance of 1,200 feet.


*It feels good to get out and shoot in some different places. This was a haul down and back, but the weather was awesome and so was my 'Lil Photography buddy. Nothing like a Daddy and son afternoon shooting. :-)

Here is another shot from my trip a few weekends ago up to Blackwater Falls State Park in WV. The waterfall under the bridge is Elakala Falls, as you can see from the ice in the foreground I wasn't about to try to get too close because I couldn't tell what was rock and what was frozen ice/snow.
