A look into the future at the Seattle Subway. Two Link trains meet in University Street Station; one set to take passengers to the UW, another to SeaTac. The UW students are happy with their 7 minute commute as they need to get to class quickly. Ridership on the south end has far exceeded planned projections. Drilling under the UW and excavation of the underground stations at Brooklyn and Roosevelt has just begun as well. Across the lake, the Link is being built towards Bellevue and their bored tunnel. And this year, we vote on Sound Transit 3.0, extending service to Issaquah, Everett, and Tacoma. Engineering is almost complete on "Linking the Future" a measure that Seattle voters overwhelmingly approved in 2014, giving funding for a new spur line to Ballard via the now-abandoned Convention Place Station, and a line to West Seattle. Shovels will be in Jan 2017! Someday....
