The winter fog is finally lifting out of the valley where Union Pacific’s Pritchard Creek horseshoe curve climbs a western grade out of Durkee, Oregon, on the morning of January 22, 2013. The fog has left ice crystals and frost on everything it touched on this mountaintop as a westbound UP train approaches the curve far below. The upper level of the horseshoe can be seen in the snow above the train to the right.
