Wisconsin & Southern F45 No. 1002 leads three Geeps eastbound at Woodland, Wisconsin, and has just crossed Lilac Road on July 6, 1992. WSOR didn't use the F45s very long since their weight was hard on the track structure.

We’re not in Wisconsin anymore, Bossie! After a trip out west, Wisconsin and Southern’s passenger train, with a few other cars thrown in for good measure, pops out of the Moffat Tunnel at East Portal, Colorado, on October 2, 1998. During the outing, the other E unit had mechanical issues and was set out, replaced by BNSF Dash 9 No. 1039. Autumn color is turning to white during the change of seasons as snow falls on the Continental Divide in the background. It was a fun chase, both westbound and eastbound on the Moffat Subdivision!

The “Bill Gates Special,” a chartered Wisconsin and Southern passenger train with a few added cars for good measure, heads westbound just west of Rollins, Colorado, on September 25, 1998. In less than a half hour, this train be taking the plunge in the 6.21-mile Moffat Tunnel. Oh, and all the young trees in this shot have now “grown up” making this shot impossible now.

The so-called “Bill Gates Special,” a chartered Wisconsin and Southern passenger train is westbound and peeks around the corner near the site of Tunnel 28 east of Cliff, Colorado, on September 25, 1998. An EMD E9 going through sharp curves such as this make the it look almost toy train-like, albeit in some pretty good looking scenery! E units operating on this former Rio Grande main line were rare; like many western roads, D&RGW found EMD F unit more suitable for passenger trains on mountain grades.
