Ulsterbus 592 (OXI 522)

It was always worth a check in the Blackpool Transport yard, as that as often home to visiting coaches from fellow municipals, and other public operators. This time, it was a rather nice Van Hool-bodied Tiger with Ulsterbus, one of a batch of five which came in 1989 from Smiths Shearings, Wigan, this one having been A161 MNE.

Withdrawn at the end of 1999, it returned to the mainland in early 2000, and gave another 10 years of service to various small operators around Kent and Sussex.

And that's it for Blackpool, or this visit at least. I will try and find something else to scan and show shortly.

Cleveland Coaches 901 (H201 XKH)

As one Leyland Swift departed, another arrived in its place, a Reeve Burgess Harrier that had only very recently received this new identity, although another more significant change was about to happen ....

H201 XKH had been new to the York Pullman operation, when it was in the ownership of Kingston-upon-Hull City Transport, transferring into the main fleet in early 1993 when York Pullman was sold to Durham Travel Services. In turn, KHCT was bought by Cleveland Transit later in 1993, and the Swift became part of the Cleveland Coaches division around a year later, hence the recent repaint.

But things were to change again a month after this shot was taken, when Stagecoach bought the Cleveland Transit group. Small coach and private hire units like this weren't really their thing, and so in mid 1995, Cleveland Coaches passed into the ownership of Delta Coaches at Stockton, who in return relinquished their local bus operations in the area. The Swift didn't last there terribly long, and was withdrawn in early 1998, so only had a little over 7 years of active service.
