Nautical twilight, aka "Blue Hour", in San Francisco, as seen from across the bay at Treasure Island. Matt, Rob and I met up last evening to grab a fresh shot of the updated skyline. Salesforce Tower is nearing completion and looms over Bank of America and Transamerica Towers. This angle even reveals Sutro Tower between the two bygone monoliths.
Deep in the rocks along the Treasure Island shoreline are hordes of aggressive raccoons. We were prepared to skirmish with said rodents, but alas, they never appeared.
Lens is the 67 M*300 f/4 tele prime, adapted to the 645Z. It is a wonderful combination for midrange tele. This is a portion of a larger pano strip made from 34 individual frames, including 2 exposures (0 and -1.3 ev). I blended with a layer mask. Cleaning the mask was so tedious it took hours and when I was almost done, my computer crashed and I had to start over. It is now 10am and I still have not gone to bed yet.

The moon descends behind Montezuma Hills, from the California Delta.
Lens is the 67 M*300mm f/4 +1.4x TC + 2.0x TC, adapted to the 645Z. That's right, I stacked two teleconverters which is generally a no no, but I didn't have enough reach otherwise. Image cropped 50%.

Early morning from the California Delta, this time returning to Bacon Island for some fogscapes along the Middle River. This is looking east toward Jones Tract and a row of utility poles. I sometimes visit this same row from the opposite angle looking back toward Mt. Diablo and they are a familiar sight out here.

Early morning at the John Marsh Stone House in Brentwood, CA. Marsh was California's first practicing doctor and build a 7,000 sq ft ranch house on his property in Contra Costa County.
This structure is presently in poor condition, but the California Dept of Parks and Rec along with the John Marsh Historic Trust will be involved with a restoration and the establishment of a new state park over the next several years.
Not only was this site an important Miwok settlement before and during Marsh's arrival, but evidence of early Windmiller and Volvon cultures has been found throughout the area, including apparently hundreds of human burials that were unearthed in 2006 when the adjacent housing development was begun. One source claims remains up to 7,000 years old are here on the property.
