It was only 5 meters away and I thought it was a pussy-cat. But you could tell from its eyes that it was constantly living off its wits.

It was sitting among bushes above a river-bank, waiting for one of the mallards, teals or spot-billed ducks that often alight on the water.

These beautiful wild animals are seldom seen in Korea, but cold weather compels them to come down from the hills in search of food.

It moved away quickly as I tried to approach it, and then I could clearly see the white markings on top of its ears; and the long furry tail was further proof of its identity.

I'm sure it's back there at or near its lookout now, waiting patiently for a careless bird.

It even ran through a small stream, perhaps because it couldn't see it. I am surprised that it seems to have seven claws, as in pictures of other moles they have five!
