I've just spent 8 days in Northern Thailand looking at butterflies and moths. Many thanks to Tim Stratford (BugsAlive) for his great help in advising me and for ID-ing the more tricky ones! His Flickr photostream has lots of great images as well as detailed, interesting descriptions of these butterflies - and not only the ones in Thailand.

This butterfly feeds on honeydew secretions from aphids which are attended by ants. You can make out one or two aphids if you view large. The ants didn't seem pleased with the visitor, but the Brownie didn't seem to be too fazed by them.

When I saw this beautiful day-flying moth floating like this in the water I thought it had perished. I lifted it gently out onto a rock (see next pic) and it was clearly very alive. Then after a couple of minutes I cajoled it onto a twig, shook the twig, and it shot off at great speed high into the canopy. So much for Ophelia.
