Exploring ghost towns out in the Colorado Rockies has been a passion of mine for many years. OK I admit it, I'm a history nerd. I usually leave these endeavors to the other inhabitant of this body, since it often requires some rigorous off-roading to get to these places, and he is a little better suited for that kind of thing.

The little site of long forgotten Placita was just down the road from where I was staying in Redstone, and an easy walk off the highway even in flip-flops. I had just enjoyed a little shopping excursion in touristy Redstone and really felt the need for one last mini-adventure before the dreaded 14 hour drive back to Missouri the next day.

Well weather happens fast out here unfortunately. Five minutes before this picture was taken there was not a cloud in the sky. The valley behind me is beautiful in the sun, unfortunately this rather intense storm came rolling over Elk Mountain and it was back to the lodge.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. It's an odd photograph but I like it.
