This was our first night in Iceland and we went out in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. They were very low intensity so I resorted to taking photographs of the wonderful display of stars.

I don't think I have ever been in as much pain taking photographs. The wind was positively whipping across the black sand dunes and getting everywhere, including in my zipped up camera bag! It was when it got in the eyes it hurt the most and I had glasses on!

Sometimes called the Ice Beach, sometimes the Diamond Beach it was a fascinating place to visit especially at this time of year when the sun barely makes it above the horizon.
