Caught this while climbing small mountains within the Phoenix,, Arizona city limit and there are a lot. I love the color range in this shot. The hikes are arid and bring water but the desert will sing a few songs too you on the way up and down. Bring good hiking shoes as there is lots of loose shale and take your time going down as it is easy to trip and twist your ankle. So many people walk and fall here that on weekends they keep a medic van at the bottom to treat folks for sprains, heat exhaustion, heart attacks, and cuts. Its not dangerous at all just take your time enjoy the views, take a bottle of water and allow at least an hour or more so you can slow down and see all the colors in the rock and various species of desert plants. A wonderful desert oasis for recreation in the heart of a very populated urban city.
