The rotunda of the state capitol building in Sacramento, California is modeled in a neoclassical style after the plan Thomas Jefferson used in Virginia and was later repeated in Washington, D.C and many other states. The beauling was built about twenty years after the gold rush period. Besides politics and lobbyists there is a lot of history inside the building and a lovely park and memorial grounds outside too. It's free to tour the building and you will likely see lot of school kids making their annual field trip here.
