Timeless and forever grand this can;yon will stand forever in human time and geologic terms one of creations (god's) most amazing places on the planet . I took the photograph on Kodacrome slides back when they still made that wonderful product.. Its rather nice
to think if I ever have any great great grandchilden that they would gaze on this with the
same awe as the original tribes have done.
Here are some important basic canyon facts:
The Grand Canyon is a chasm 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide
Below Yavapai point is 2,400 feet above sea level, about 4,500 feet below the South Rim and 5,400 feet below the North Rim for an average depth of about one mile
Took 3-6 million years to form; erosion continues to alter its contours
Includes approximately 70 species of mammals, 250 species of birds, 25 types of reptiles and five species of amphibians
Was formed by the Colorado River, which flows west through the canyon and averages about 300 feet width, 100 feet in depth and flows at an average speed of four miles per hour

The Grand Canyon National Park was made a national monument in 1908 and became a national park in 1919.
The canyon covers an area of 1,900 square miles and is 190 miles long.

There are some 277 miles of the Colorado River .
It is populated by five Indian tribes: The Hopi, Navajo, Havasupai, Paiute and Hualapai

Emerald pool has some of the purest colors of all the thermal areas in Yellowstone National Park. Located in Biscuit Basin it is a technicolor wonder of yellows, blues, lime greens surrounded by forest and white mineral salts. A magic place in this jewel of a wilderness park.

We took this one on a winter night 2008 when it was cold out and we didn't want to get out for a party. It was a hit and makes me smile every time I see it so its worth of a repost. Who needs a beach, just stoke up the fire, keep the house warm and make your own beach party for new years or any time. Be sure to get your favorite ice cream to go with your favorite beach party film, then relax, smile and have a blast. oh yes don't forget to put on your best red, black or pink bikini or swimsuit too. Go for it. The dance of life and love that men and woman do for eternity. We had our party at home in the middle of winter. it was fun, romantic, sexy, and tasty too. You don't always need fireworks, cocktail dresses and champagne to send out the old and bring in the new. Helps to have a sense of humor, passion for living and love of the simple gifts life offers. In this case chocolate ice cream, a good movie, and a lovely beautiful sexy wife who sometimes indulges the whims of her loving husband. If you are nice to people they sometime repay the favor with kisses, massage and sweet memories.
