Big surf is pretty normal near the cove in Santa Cruz, California. The water is cold so everyone is in a wet suit and the competition for waves can be like traffic in La but when you get to ride a big one all your cares drop away and your body, the ocean and the wind become the zen artist of now.

Living one day at a time is all we can do and stopping to observe nature's gifts be it a sunset, a rose, changing leaves, a child's face all keep us grounded. We collect these little treasures of time in memories and photos and then whoosh let them go at the end like those Buddists monks and there sand paintings. This was on the Pacific Coast in Santa Cruz California and if you get there be sure to up West Cliff Drive to watch the surfers, see the jagged cliffs and smell the sea breeze. Take your kids to the beach at Natural Bridges and if you have time take the drive up Highway 1 to Davenport, and all the little place to hike before you get to Half Moon Bay and San Francisco. Ahhhh so sweet.

Santa Cruz, California is rightly known for its coastal beauty. This land arch and bridge is not the most famous in town but its a fine place to water at work as it sculpts towers, arches, and a wilderness of coastline for tourist, animals, students and all.

Also here is a Flckr link to a very beautiful song video.

Santa Cruz, California deserves its reputation as a surf haven. The waves are consistently larger then those down south. In some areas wearing a crash helmet is a smart idea what you can't see here is the 30 feet cliff faces that these surfers are thrown perilously close too. Go and watch near the lighthouse its the best shown in town.

Time seems to slow down in the best of ways when you sit down to watch the sunset anywhere you are. If you add in man's best friend a spectacular California coast view 30 miles north of Santa Cruz and a mostly deserted beach trail hike then you have all you need for a perfect sandwich of ocean waves, orange light . Maybe even the gray whales are dancing beneath the deep blue Pacific Ocean. To get here from San Francisco take the Cabrillo highway south of Half Moon Bay and 20 more miles to San Gregorio. Blessings.
