This California classic was taken one block from the beach in Oceanside just north of San Diego. I barely got there for this final light moment. Being at the top of a hill made for a more dramatic angle to include the series of palm trees.

The days are short and the light may fade and darkness descends before we get home from work but mother nature has magic every day and every season. In the California wetlands birds take refuge in the delta where swampy insects and fish provide food and brush and cattails give shelter. Bird songs fill the air each night and at morning. This earth fills up with too many people but we must conserve lands and oceans for our fellow creatures because in the grand plan each tiny bug and enormous bears or whale contributes to our welfare and each one is a miracle of creation. Support your local Sierra Club or conservation clubs, take young people out for a hike and find the treasures that wait in the music of this earth.

Another amazing sunset in the desert of Southern California. This panorama was shot just after dark so it was a bit grainy but still captures the light colors correctly was a delicious pastel pink sky and the San Jacinto mountains in the background. Taken at the retirement home village of Sun City in Palm Desert . Fabulous in winter but a beast of heat for 5 months from April to October. Enjoy be wise , safe , get vaccinated for the sake of young kids and parents you may encounter. Count your blessings.

I have another one like this taken years ago as I have be lucky to revisit the Mammoth Lakes area about 8 times during the past 20 plus years. If you are up there put on you jacket and any season drive up to the Minaret Vista parking lot to watch the sunset. Bring your tripod or just soak it in with your eyes maybe that is the best way of all. Look in all directions if its cloudy se la vie but sometimes that means a great sky is color. Remember some of the best color changes happen ten or twenty minutes after the sun sinks below the horizon. I move around a lot so I can study the sky from many vantage points.
When you watch a good one it's a gift so put it in your memory pocket and vote for people who want to keep the air clean and save some wilderness for new generations. Donate to your local conservation fun or the National Parks Foundation.
