Today was my second Dia de Los Locos Fiesta. First one was 10 years ago when I was living here. I knew the sidewalks would be packed, so I skipped the parade and went to the church courtyard where many of the marchers would be preparing. dia de los locos (day of the crazy people) is one of san miguel de allende's most anticipated yearly festivals - - a kind of local carnaval/ halloween....an estimated 10,000 people dance through the streets throwing candies in the colorful parade which features thousands of home-made papier-mache masks ( and some of the rubber variety as well)...i backdated my set of '09 photos in the travel collection.....here is the link to the slide show:
