These seven ducklings are thriving even though they don't seem to have an adult bird looking after them. I have been watching and feeding the for a couple of weeks now.
On this day they had been swimming alongside the towpath keeping pace with me. They came upon a piece of wood sticking out into the canal and promptly climbed aboard and went to sleep with me standing over them taking photos.

Heron just about to swallow a fish. I took the photo using a 200mm zoom lens and didn,t realise that the heron had a fish until I arrived home and looked at my pictures on the computer.

Saw this unusual sight in the canal at Aylestone. A very large dead snake.
Don,t know what kind it was,but much bigger than any wild species found in britain.
Since I took this photo I have found out that the snake is a Burmese Albino Python.
