Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich addresses a generally hostile crowd at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum dedication on April 19, 2005. Blagojevich was not a popular figure in Springfield during his 6 year tenure as Governor. In January 2009, Blagojevich was removed from office on January 29, 2009, and was immediately seceded by Lt. Governor Pat Quinn, who is seated behind the First Lady in this photo.
As Blagojevich gave his remarks, I found the expressions on the faces of Senators Obama and Durbin, Congressman LaHood and Speaker Hastert, as well as President Bush, to be rather amusing. Nobody liked Blagojevich; particularly members of his own party. The former Governor is now facing criminal prosecution on Federal corruption charges.
