A view of the former United Methodist Church in Glenarm. This church was built as the Glenarm M.E. Church in 1869. In 1994 it merged with the United Methodist Church in New City for the purpose of establishing a new church in Ball Township. The new Sugar Creek United Methodist Church was consecrated in May 1996. Today the former Methodist Church in Glenarm now houses Progressive Electric Inc., an electrical contractor serving Central Illinois.

Glenarm is a small community in Sangamon County, and is located about 12 miles south of Springfield. The population of Glenarm was 942 at the 2000 census.
