A view of the former Methodist Church in New City. The Methodist churches in New City and Glenarm joined in 1994 for the purpose of establishing a new church in Ball Township. The new Sugar Creek United Methodist Church was consecrated in May 1996. Today the former Methodist Church in New City is a Christian Church known as the New City Community Church.

New City is an unincorporated community in Sangamon County. The hamlet is located around the intersection of County Highway 40 (Cardinal Hill Road/New City-Pawnee Road) and County Highway 37 (New City Rd.), and is about 11 miles southeast of downtown Springfield.
