This view of the Williamsville business district shows the south side of the business district in the 100 block of W. Main St. Most of the buildings in the business district date to the late 19th and early 20th century.

Note how the Williamsville Bank of J. Prather & Co. are paid tribute to in the now open space next to the coffee shop. The Williamsville Bank opened in 1890 and remained at this location at 106 W. This view of the Williamsville business district shows the north side of the business district in the 100 blocks of W. Main St. and E. Main St. Most of the buildings in the business district date to the late 19th and early 20th century.

In my previous post showing the south side of W. Main St., I pointed out how the Williamsville Bank of J. Prather & Co. was paid tribute to in the now open space next to the coffee shop. The Williamsville Bank opened in 1890 and remained on the south side of W. Main until a new, larger bank building - the tan brick building with the green roof shown here - was erected in 1903. The bank, now known as the Williamsville State Bank, conducted business from this location until 1980, when a new bank building was completed 5 blocks west of this location on W. Main St.

The Village of Williamsville was established in 1853. Located just 17 miles (27 km) north of the state capitol in Springfield, this central Illinois community had a population of 1,467 at the 2020 census.

A view of Main St. as seen looking east from the Williamsville business district. A large, grassy median strip divides the north and south sides of E. Main St., which is lined with many beautiful older homes a century or more old. At the west end (left) of the median is Williamsville's Roll Of Honor War Memorial dedicated in 1919.

A view of the Roll of Honor Arch "dedicated to the Men and Women of the Williamsville area who have honorably served in the armed forces of the United States." The original arch was dedicated in 1919 in honor of those who served in World War I. The arch was rebuilt and rededicated in 1993.

A Howitzer 155mm canon that served in Vietnam sits now beneath the arch. A WWI 75mm Howitzer cannon also once sat beneath the arch, but was turned in to the U.S. Government Scrap Drive in 1942 during WWII.
