This view of the Williamsville business district shows the south side of the business district in the 100 block of W. Main St. Most of the buildings in the business district date to the late 19th and early 20th century.
Note how the Williamsville Bank of J. Prather & Co. are paid tribute to in the now open space next to the coffee shop. The Williamsville Bank opened in 1890 and remained at this location at 106 W. Main St. until 1903 when a new, larger building was erected on the north side of the street. The bank is now known as the Williamsville State Bank.
The Village of Williamsville was established in 1853. Located just 17 miles (27 km) north of the state capitol in Springfield, this central Illinois community had a population of 1,467 at the 2020 census.

The visual impression of Illinois’ agricultural landscapes is one of expansive openness, where the sky meets the earth in an unbroken line, punctuated only by the occasional farmhouse, silo, or grove of trees along waterways.
It is a landscape dominated by monoculture crops, primarily corn and soybeans, which stretch across the horizon in neat, orderly rows. The area is predominantly flat with gently rolling hills, and the soil is exceptionally rich, thanks to thousands of years of organic matter accumulation from deep-rooted prairie plants. This has made Illinois one of the most productive agricultural states in the United States.

Fall color is at its peak in central Illinois the last weekend of October. In farmland, the peak fall color is a stunning sight. The expansive fields, often dominated by the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows of autumn leaves, create a breathtaking tapestry across the landscape. The contrast of the warm hues against the earthy tones of harvested crops and the sky's blue is something to behold.
During this time, trees like maples, oaks, and birches show off their brightest colors. It's a time when nature puts on a show, and the flatlands of farmland serve as the perfect stage. For farmers, it’s a dual experience: the visual splendor of fall colors mixed with the busyness of the harvest season. The crisp air and golden light add a magical touch to their daily routines, making the hard work feel a bit more rewarding.
