The weather was sunny and perfect for the week we were in California. This little male had a mate nearby and there were lots more like them singing their hearts out all day long in my sister's backyard. I don't think we have them here in Nova Scotia so an ID would be great. (we also don't have roofing tiles like that so I was enamored with the architecture too)

Thanks folks for the house finch ID..we have finches in Nova Scotia but they are longer and leaner...(wonder why?) Common Redpoll variety (thanks Maureen for the link)
