It was getting late when we got to the vineyard but the great colors in the sky made up for it...wished I had my tripod with me..took several shots at different exposures but even the brightest was a bit dark, but with a bit of work I like this anyway. As soon as we checked into our hotel in Portland I got driving directions to Portland Head Lighthouse. Almost everyone I know will assume I went to Portland to go shopping at the great malls and the outlet stores nearby, but I went for this scene and was not disappointed. Most of the photos I have seen were taken at sunrise so I wasn`t sure where the sun would set, but as luck had it, the timing was perfect to catch the reflection of the sun bouncing off the window in several shots. On the downside, my lens has dust in it and iIhad a terribel time removing lots and lots of dust spots.


Oh yes, I forgot to mention..supposedly THE most photographed lighthouse in the USA..so now I can add that with my Peggy's Cove which is Canada's winner.

SCHOOL PROM TONIGHT..I AM GOING TO CHAPERONE :-) tHE SCHOOL i WORK IN IS 52 YEARS OLD SO I BET THEY HAD ALL THIS STUFF WHEN THEY OPENED.

i had a leather bookbag just like the one in the photo when I was in elementary school. In about 1970 I cut it up and made some leather thong 'hippy" sandals out of it.....they lasted for years!

This seems much darker on flickr than on my PC...there were lots of people walking and enjoying the great sunset the first evening we were at Pismo Beach..what a pretty place it is.... And the sky was nice enough to put on a pretty display too! On Explore @59 April 6/09
