We were delighted to have sunny weather (though it was a cool 52 to 65 F) as we drove up the Oregon Coast on Hwy 101.

This place has been on my wish list for along time! I was so thrilled that we got to see it. We had originally thought we would travel further north in Washington to Seattle to meet up with my sister who lives in Vancouver, British Columbia (about 2 hours north), bu we also wanted to drive along the Columbia Gorge and visit the waterfalls. After an unplanned need to visit the Porsche dealership in Portland to get a minor repair and some new rear tires, we ended up being in Portland until 4 PM. SO, the good news was that by the time we got to the waterfalls the light was perfect and i was very happy!!! we hiked to several other falls along the way which were also beautiful, but this one is tops for sure!

A MUST SEE place if you like lavender and gardens, and views of two snow covered mountains. This place is really gorgeous and the little gift shop has some wonderful lavender products...lotions and creams and jellies and more! So glad I saw a photo on a tourist magazine cover page and it was only 20 miles from the hotel we were in at the time.

Another view from the beautiful Mount Hood Lavender Farm on a hot July day. I find it fascinating to be standing in hot sunshine (it was about 85 F) and looking at so much snow in the distance. seeing two volcanic mountains from one spot is a real treat!

When we were in Oregon I saw a photo of a lavender farm with a snow capped mountain in the distance and said, 'I want to see this!" Luckily it was only about 20 miles from where we were staying, so we back-tracked and found it.. Hood River Lavender Farm is so perfectly situated with a view of Mount Adams to the north and Mount Hood to the south. I cloned a car and a few people of out this one.
