"General Lafayette"
painter: Albion Hurdle, 1840

Albion Hurdle created copies of the original paintings of Washington and Lafayette, which flank the Speaker’s Rostrum in the United States House of Representatives.

Hurdle added Masonic regalia to the two portraits. Lafayette is portrayed wearing an apron adorned with symbols of the Knights Templar branch of Freemasonry.
