La Defense, Paris: Le Grande Arche.
The Grande Arche de la Défense is a modern triumphal arch built at the end of the 20th century in La Défense, Paris's modern business district. The arch is gigantic: it's twice the size of the Arc de Triomphe and its archway is large enough to fit Notre-Dame Cathedral within it. The concrete structure is 361 feet high and 348 feet wide. As you can see, the people around it look like ants. I don't think I've ever been so awestruck by a building as I was when I first saw this.

L'Opera Garnier, probably the most famous Opera House in the world, was the setting for the novel the "Phantom of the Opera". The Grand Foyer, which would be fit for a Royal palace, is 18 metres high, 154 metres long and 13 metres wide. It was designed to act as a drawing room for Paris society and was restored in 2004.
