fascinating exhibition at the Pergamon-museum in Berlin


Max von Oppenheim studied Tel Halaf the first time in November 1899 for three days. He could return in August 1911 with an excavation team and extensive equipment, which included a light railway, team included five architects, a photographer, two secretaries, a doctor and 200 local workers.

He built up his own museum in Berlin, but in the 2nd and World War II the exhibition was severly damaged. A group of scientists managed to puzzle the nearly completed statues together in a tremendous work – so you can see these admirable figures in the Pergamon museum. It`s definitely worth...
