Yesterday and today several homeowners in and around Eccleshall opened up their gardens to hoi palloi in aid of charity. There are some rather splendid ones, and those off the high street especially have long, narrow back gardens (probably 'burgages' dating back hundreds of years). We had to have a cup of tea and a homemade cake in one of them, purely to boost the charitable donations obviously.
