This is not the first time I've photographed this sculpture of my favourite war poet, Wilfred Owen. I often wonder what he would have written had he survived the First World War.

Designed by sculptor Tim Turner, the statue was unveiled on the morning of 20th October 2018, as part of the town's commemorative events in the final year of the centenary.

The life-size statue stands in Cae Glas Park and is adorned with the words of Owen, handwritten by local primary school children, along with five original poems, contributed by pupils from local schools.

This is all that remains of the castle in Oswestry. After a long and difficult history, it was 'slighted' by a parliamentary order in the 17th century. After that people raided the place and took away stone for use in construction.
